Filipinos love to post tweets expressing laughter, making the Philippines the country that laughs the most—not only in Asia but in the whole world.
Pinoys send 119 laughing tweets for every 1,000 tweets on X
BoredPanda, a Lithuanian content website, said that stat coming out of the Philippines reveal that there are 119 laughing tweets every 1,000 tweets on X, thus making Filipinos laugh the most online than anyone else on the planet.
BoredPanda also claims that its study shows that Guatemala laughs the most in North America, with 77.6 tweets on X out of 1,000 containing laughter. The website said it the US (48.6) doesn’t even make the top five, although US web users laugh more than those in the UK (48.0), which is number one in Europe.
All in all, none of these countries makes a dent in the stat coming out of the Philippines. The Philippines was followed by South Africa at second, which had 106.9 laughter tweets out of 1,000, and Paraguay at third with 82.6.

In Asia, Malaysia ranks at second behind the Philippines with 87.4 and Iran at 71.3. Bangladesh had the fewest laughter tweets, at 5.99 out of 1,000, followed by Moldova at 14.80 and Algeria at 19.47.
BoredPanda said that its methodology for the study was to analyze 30 million geotagged tweets to find which countries and US states and cities laugh the most online, Bored Panda analyzed 30 million geotagged tweets.
Happiest countries
The Philippines meanwhile ranked as the second happiest country in Southeast Asia, according to the 2023 World Happiness Report by the University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Center.
Jumping from 76th to 53rd out of 143 nations, the country’s overall life satisfaction score improved significantly. This nearly mirrors its 52nd position in the pre-pandemic 2020 report.
Finland was once again the happiest country in the world, the report said.
While Finland secured the top spot for the seventh consecutive year, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and Israel, the Philippines’ upward trend is a positive indicator.
