The Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) has formally launched the World Marketing Forum and National Marketing Conference slated this November in Manila.
His Excellency Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino Anthony, Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines, at the formal launch, underscored the importance of this year’s World Marketing Forum and National Marketing Conference.
Malaysia’s top envoy said the events reflect “strong international collaboration.” He said events like these facilitate the entry of more Malaysian companies and foster collaboration in the Philippines.
“There is immense potential in the Philippines and Malaysia partnership, with our shared similarities in values,” he said. The ambassador further said one very good potential for collaboration between the two countries is in the area of “halal.”
During the press conference, a ceremonial signing of a partnership agreement with the Malaysian Embassy also took place, highlighting a significant step toward fostering regional ties in marketing and innovation.
Event overview
“Our goal this year is to highlight the balance marketers must strike between the creativity of the human spirit and the capabilities of technology,” Kathy P. Mercado, current president of the PMA, said. “By exploring how we can blend human insight with machine intelligence, we hope to empower our participants to develop strategic solutions for today’s complex marketing challenges.”
Mercado said this year’s World Marketing Forum is aiming to further make the Philippines a global hub for marketing while fostering industry growth.
Mercado, who is also the senior vice president for sales and marketing of Newport World Resort, added that the PMA will continue to support collaborative efforts not only in the Philippines but in the region as well.
Overall conference chairperson Donald Patrick Lim, who is also COO of DITO CME and chief innovation officer of Udenna Corporation, said the forum will also tackle the current challenges that marketers in the Philippines now face.
Lim said foremost of these challenges is new and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). “Who gets to master new technologies? The biggest challenge is how to utilize these tools and how to embrace AI,” Lim said.
The executive further said these are just some of the questions that the forum will hopefully answer. He added that marketing experts have committed to attend and support the forum.
“It is our honor to host the World Marketing Forum as part of our 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Association,” said Sy Bryan Lato, CPM-Asia, PMA Immediate Past President, and Director for International Affairs.
“The bid was done during a board meeting of the Asia Marketing Federation, and we are excited to show Filipino hospitality and present the world with the richness of Filipino culture.”
