Nissan EV as charging station?

Attorney Rhys Murillo, general manager for compliance, legal, and external and government affairs of Nissan Philippines explained how a Nissan electric vehicle (EV) was used during a typhoon.

Murillo, speaking at a panel during the 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit said a Nissan EV was once used as a “charging station” for typhoon victims which allowed them to communicate and get in touch with relatives during a massive power outage.

The 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit was recently held at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Typhoon Kristine aftermath

The government meanwhile is ramping up its efforts to hasten the Bicol Region’s recovery and mitigate the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) on other parts of the country.

The government has directed all agencies and offices, as well as the administration’s partners in the private and non-government sector, to “pitch in, strengthen and reinforce the bulwark which we have built against this raging tempest.”
