The Quezon City government has awarded P6 million in equity-free grants to six local tech startups under the StartUp QC program.
“We are proud to see how these startups evolve and create meaningful sectoral transformation,” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, quoted by The Manila Standard, said.
Awardees
From an initial pool of 58 applicants, the final awardees were selected after a rigorous selection process, group mentorship, and product development workshops.
One standout finalist was Nyha Robotics, a promising team that first made waves as an awardee in the recently launched Startup QC Student Competition.
The other finalists include:
- Callback: A digital casting platform that connects artists and producers, streamlining the casting process for cultural workers.
- Kwentoon: A digital platform promoting literacy and contemporary visual arts among Filipino youth.
- Lithos Manufacturing: A portable, foldable tank box with a filtration system providing immediate, sustainable access to safe drinking water in remote or disaster-affected areas.
- Pasajob: A referral-based job-matching platform.
- RevUp Finance: Aiming to improve SME financial operations by reducing invoicing, follow-ups, payment validation, and reconciliation time by 80% through streamlined workflows.
What is the StartupQC?
StartupQC is a Quezon City government-led initiative designed to support early-stage startups. It provides various resources and support, including:
- Training and mentoring sessions: To help startups refine their business models and strategies.
- Industry exposure and networking events: To connect startups with potential investors, partners, and customers.
- Financial grants: To help startups fund their operations and growth.
The program aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Quezon City and transform it into the startup capital of the Philippines.
