T.I.P. granted ‘autonomous status’ anew by CHED

This recognition places T.I.P. as among 77 private higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country to achieve this milestone.

The Manila and Quezon City campuses of the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) have both been granted autonomous status again by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). (CHED Memorandum Order No. 07, Series of 2024)

This recognition places T.I.P. as among 77 private higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country to achieve this milestone.

The Manila and Quezon City campuses have been bestowed this honor since 2016, and will continue to hold this award  from 2024 to 2027.

The grant is a reaffirmation of T.I.P.’s commitment to instructional quality and academic excellence. HEIs have been evaluated by the CHED based on their educational effectiveness through  their local and international accredited/ assessed programs, research and community extension initiatives, global partnerships and recognition for leadership in education, among others.

T.I.P. is home to 16 programs lauded as Centers of Excellence and Centers of Development by the CHED, as well as accreditation and assessment from international bodies such as the engineering and computing programmatic accreditation from the ABET EAC and CAC, the international gold standard in engineering and computing accreditation; ISO institutional certification from the DNV for its quality management system; and programmatic assessment from the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). Most recently, T.I.P. received institutional assessment from the AUN-QA.

The autonomous status empowers T.I.P. with the freedom to enhance its programs, streamline processes, and foster an environment that is conducive to innovations in teaching and learning.

Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz, president of T.I.P., said that the autonomous award from the CHED is received as a challenge to further strengthen T.I.P.’s resolve to holistically mold students not only inside, but also outside the classroom. It is our constant goal to provide students with opportunities, experiences, and connections that go beyond the usual realm of possibilities in their higher education and that enable them to learn by doing.

She thanked the whole T.I.P. community for their dedication and unwavering support as the CHED autonomous award brings T.I.P. closer to its vision of providing the best globally competitive technological education.

She exhorted T.I.P. students to remain conscientious in their studies and be inspired to make the most of their academic and social life in T.I.P.  to further elevate themselves.
