Samsung Electronics announced its groundbreaking 3D audio technology, Eclipsa Audio, developed in partnership with Google.
This cutting-edge innovation will debut in its entire 2025 TV and soundbar lineup, from the budget-friendly Crystal UHD series to the flagship Neo QLED 8K models, set to be unveiled at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
Eclipsa Audio delivers an unprecedented immersive sound experience by dynamically manipulating audio data.
This includes precisely controlling sound location, intensity, and the way sound reflects off surfaces within the listening environment, creating a truly three-dimensional soundscape that envelops the viewer.
3D audio tech
At the heart of Eclipsa Audio lies the Immersive Audio Model and Formats, an advanced 3D spatial audio technology adopted by the Alliance for Open Media (AOM) in October 2023. AOM, a consortium of global tech giants including Samsung and Google, is dedicated to fostering open-source media technologies.
Samsung is the first in the industry to implement this revolutionary technology across its entire 2025 TV lineup. This means viewers can enjoy an unparalleled audio experience with YouTube videos enhanced with Eclipsa Audio, bringing entertainment to life with breathtaking realism.
To ensure consistent high-quality audio across all Eclipsa Audio-enabled devices, Samsung and Google are collaborating with the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) in Korea. This partnership will establish a rigorous certification program for devices utilizing Eclipsa Audio, guaranteeing consumers a premium and consistent listening experience.
“We are thrilled to lead the industry with the integration of Eclipsa Audio into our 2025 TV and soundbar lineup,” stated Samsung vice chair Son Tae-young. “This innovation unlocks a new era of immersive audio experiences, solidifying our commitment to shaping the future of home entertainment.”
