Davao watershed protection: Alsons Dev joins DCWD’s adopt-a-site program

Executives sign MOA.

Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev) has solidified its commitment to environmental sustainability by partnering with the Davao City Water District (DCWD) for the “Adopt-A-Site” project.

The formal agreement, sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last month at the Alsons Dev Poblacion Market Central Sales Showroom, marks a significant step toward safeguarding the region’s vital water resources.

The signing ceremony brought together key figures from both organizations, including Alsons Dev Vice President & General Manager Eric de la Costa, Alsons Dev Corporate Communications Manager Margarita Rey-Gross, DCWD General Manager Mildred G. Aviles, CPA, DM-HRM, and other prominent officials. Ryan Vidanes, Executive Director of the Alcantara Foundation, the CSR arm of the Alcantara Group, also participated, underscoring the broader commitment to community and environmental welfare.

Under the partnership, Alsons Dev will adopt and rehabilitate five hectares of land within the Mt. Tipolog-Tamugan Watershed, a critical water source for Davao City. This initiative is a key component of DCWD’s Integrated Watershed Management Program, focusing on sustained reforestation and maintenance efforts over the next five years.

The “Adopt-A-Site” project is designed to foster stakeholder engagement in watershed conservation, ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for future generations. Alsons Dev’s involvement exemplifies the company’s long-term dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable development practices.

“This partnership highlights our unwavering commitment to protecting our natural resources,” stated Eric de la Costa. “We are proud to collaborate with DCWD in safeguarding the Mt. Tipolog-Tamugan Watershed, ensuring a sustainable water future for Davao City.”

Mildred G. Aviles echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in environmental conservation. “The support of partners like Alsons Dev is crucial in maintaining the health of our watersheds,” she said. “Together, we are making a tangible difference in ensuring water security for our community.”

Alsons Dev, a leading property developer in Davao, continues to prioritize the creation of sustainable and vibrant communities, reinforcing its role as a responsible corporate citizen.
