Converge sustains lead as the fastest internet provider in the Philippines, eyes 2025 expansion

Converge

For Converge ICT Solutions COO Jesus Romero, staying on top of the country’s internet speed rankings is not just a matter of technology—it’s about listening to customers.

Converge, a major player in the Philippine broadband market, was recently recognized once again as the fastest fixed internet provider in the country by global network intelligence firm Ookla.

In its latest Speedtest Awards, Ookla ranked Converge highest in terms of Speed Score, a metric that blends download and upload speeds to measure overall performance. The company outpaced other telcos in the Philippines, continuing its streak as the leader in fixed broadband speed.

Romero attributes this consistent performance to a customer-centric approach.

“We rely on real-time data and constant feedback from our customers to guide our decisions,” Romero said. “It’s not just about speed—it’s about reliability, customer experience, and continuous improvement.”

Converge has steadily built a reputation for offering symmetrical fiber connections and competitive pricing, allowing it to serve both urban hubs and underserved regions across the country. The company’s robust fiber backbone and ongoing infrastructure investments have made it a go-to choice for homes and businesses alike.

Looking ahead

Looking ahead, Converge is not slowing down. The broadband provider is setting its sights on expanding its footprint even further in 2025. Part of its strategic plan includes rolling out services in more remote and rural areas, as well as investing in international cable systems to improve connectivity and resilience.

“We’re making significant investments in our network infrastructure, both domestically and internationally,” Romero said. “In 2025, we plan to reach even more Filipinos while continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible with fiber technology.”

With a focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and aggressive expansion, Converge is aiming not only to retain its spot as the fastest provider—but to redefine what internet service means for millions of Filipinos.

The company earlier bared plans for expansion with a substantial increase in capital expenditures (capex) for 2025. The company has earmarked up to ₱25 billion for the year, significantly higher than the ₱9.3 billion spent in 2024.

The company bared that a significant portion of the 2025 capex, approximately ₱12 billion, is allocated to the activation of two international subsea cable systems: the BiFrost Cable System and the Southeast Asia Hainan-Hong Kong Express Cable System (SEA H2X).

These systems are expected to enhance Converge’s capacity to support both residential customers and large-scale enterprises.

In addition to international connectivity, Converge is investing in domestic infrastructure, including port expansion and redundancy measures. The company plans to install up to 500,000 fiber ports, primarily in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, aiming to broaden its national coverage.

Expansion of data centers

Converge also said that it is expanding its data center infrastructure. The company is constructing a new data center in Caloocan City, designed to accommodate 300 racks, dedicated to internal operations.

Additionally, facilities in Pampanga are set to be integrated into the network later in the year, collectively costing approximately ₱5 billion.

Financials

Further, Converge said it remains committed to investing in digital infrastructure, including cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT), to drive future growth.

In terms of revenues, the company said it is projecting a 16% increase in revenue for the year, building on the 14.2% growth achieved in 2024.
