PLDT is investing billions in Laguna and Cavite data centers

PLDT investing billions in data centers.

Dominant carrier PLDT is making bold moves to strengthen the Philippines’ digital infrastructure, with major investments in two massive data centers—one already up and running in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and another in the pipeline for Cavite.

VITRO Sta. Rosa: A P13B hyperscale milestone

The VITRO Sta. Rosa facility is reportedly PLDT’s biggest and most advanced data center to date, built on a five-hectare site with a projected power capacity of 50 megawatts. The investment? Roughly $350 million or about P13 billion. It’s not just big—it’s built for the future, PLDT says.

The facility meets Tier-3 standards and is Tier-4 ready, offering top-tier reliability. It’s also designed with sustainability in mind, meeting LEED criteria for green buildings. There’s even a dedicated substation in partnership with Meralco to ensure a steady power supply. Connectivity-wise, it’s carrier-neutral with multiple fiber routes, which gives clients more flexibility and network resiliency.

This makes it especially attractive to hyperscalers, large enterprises, and even government agencies needing robust and secure digital infrastructure.

Cavite Data Center: Even bigger ambitions

Next up is Cavite. PLDT’s already planning its 12th data center there, with a massive investment ranging from $600 million to $900 million. This one’s designed to handle an even more impressive 100 megawatts of capacity—doubling what Sta. Rosa offers.

Once operational, it’ll be a key asset for hyperscalers, content providers, and enterprise clients looking to scale in the region.

It’s a strong signal that PLDT—and the Philippines—is serious about becoming a digital hub in Southeast Asia.

Why do these investments matter?

These investments go way beyond infrastructure. They’re catalysts for growth across the board:

Attracting global players – Tech giants looking for reliable, scalable infrastructure in the region now have more reasons to choose the Philippines.

Empowering local businesses – Startups and enterprises can tap into world-class data services without building everything from scratch. Creating jobs and upskilling talent – From engineers to cybersecurity pros, these projects open up new opportunities and push for skill development across the tech workforce.

Decentralizing digital growth – With facilities outside Metro Manila, regions like Laguna and Cavite are becoming new tech hotspots. In short, PLDT’s data center strategy isn’t just about tech infrastructure—it’s about laying the groundwork for a more competitive, connected, and future-ready digital economy.

All indications seem to point that PLDT’s data center strategy isn’t just about tech infrastructure—it’s about laying the groundwork for a more competitive, connected, and future-ready digital economy.
