OMODA-Jaecoo has pulled the wraps off their latest hybrid SUV, the Jaecoo J7, at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2025, held at the World Trade Center recently.
We even got a quick ride—more of a teaser than a full test drive—of the futuristic J7 and here are our initial impressions.
First impressions
The handling was surprisingly good. The steering is super light, the turning radius is tight, and overall, it feels really easy to maneuver.
Everything inside is digital—seat adjustments, gear shifting, drive modes, you name it. And front and center is a massive 13-inch display panel that gives the interior a very modern feel.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to test how punchy the J7 really is. It’s rated for a combined 347 horsepower (255 kW) and 525 Nm of torque from its gas engine and electric motor—that’s in the ballpark of what a 3.0-liter turbo engine delivers.
That full power kicks in when you’re cruising above 80 km/h, where both power sources work together for max performance.

What we know about the Jaecoo J7 SHS
The version shown off at MIAS was the Jaecoo J7 SHS, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that’s also sold as the Omoda J7 in some markets.
Here’s what Filipino car buyers can expect:
- Hybrid powertrain: It pairs a 1.5L turbocharged direct-injection gas engine with an electric motor, giving you several drive modes—Full Electric, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid, and Regenerative mode.
- Power and torque: Again, you’re looking at a combined 347 hp and 525 Nm of torque—solid numbers for a hybrid SUV.
- Electric range: It can go up to 106 km on electric power alone, thanks to an 18.3-kWh lithium-ion battery.
- Total range: AAP tested it and confirmed a whopping 1,488.8 km on a full tank and charge, even exceeding the global estimate of 1,200+ km.
- Fuel efficiency: Rated at just 4.1 liters per 100 km—very wallet-friendly for long drives.
- Fast charging: The battery can juice up from 30% to 80% in about 20 minutes, and it’s designed to handle extreme temps—from -35°C to 60°C.
- Variants: Expect two trims for the PH market—Comfort and Premium.
- Pricing: Both are expected to stay under the ₱1.7 million mark, making it a pretty strong value proposition.
- Availability: Units should start arriving by May 2025.
- Feature highlights: Look out for a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a huge 14.8-inch infotainment screen with voice commands, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a Driver Monitoring System (DMS), and a full 360-degree camera setup with underbody view.
- Warranty: A generous 7-year or 200,000-km warranty is expected.
The verdict so far
The Jaecoo J7 SHS looks like it’s shaping up to be a strong contender in the hybrid SUV space—blending solid performance, tech, and efficiency in a sleek, modern package.
With a sub-₱1.7M price point, reportedly, it’s bound to turn heads once it officially rolls into the Philippine market this May. If you’re in the market for a hybrid SUV, it’s definitely worth checking out at your nearest OMODA & Jaecoo dealership.
