Palawan Group marks 40 years with tribute to loyal employees

Palawan Group

The Palawan Group of Companies, a leading name in financial services, began its 40th anniversary celebration by honoring the employees who helped build its legacy.

At the heart of the celebration was the Gintong Lingkod Awards, which recognized employees with 20, 25, and 30 years of service. These dedicated team members were flown with their families to Palawan Group’s headquarters in Puerto Princesa City for a heartfelt ceremony, where they received the full red-carpet treatment.

A celebration of service and culture

The ceremony honored not just tenure, but the values that continue to shape the company. Chief Human Resources Officer Korina Castro-Fernando described the honorees as the “nangs and nongs” (big sisters and brothers) who lived out Kulturang Palawan—a culture of integrity and sincere service. “It is this culture that serves as the foundation of our success,” she said, thanking the awardees for helping transform a small pawnshop into a globally recognized financial services provider.

This sentiment was echoed by co-founder and Deputy Chairman Angelita M. Castro. “You didn’t just witness our growth—you made it possible,” she said, holding back tears. “We wouldn’t be here celebrating 40 years of success without your hard work and love for this company.”

Stories of purpose and passion

Several awardees shared stories of their journey with the company. Flora Mae Salarzon, a 25-year honoree, said, “If I weren’t well-compensated, I would’ve left a long time ago—but compensation here isn’t just about salary. We are taken care of as people. Palawan has helped us grow not just as professionals, but as individuals, parents, and community members.”

Another 25-year honoree, Ma. Criselda Emnace, emphasized how “malasakit” (genuine care) for sukis (customers) fuels the company’s longevity. “This job became more than a job—it became a purpose. I’ve learned that the most important business skill we can have is customer love.”

Each awardee was called to the stage alongside a loved one to receive a 24K Palawan Gold coin and a warm embrace from the company’s leaders—marking not just a milestone, but a meaningful moment.

Built on bayanihan and heart

The Gintong Lingkod Awards is part of Palawan Group’s commitment to nurturing a workplace culture rooted in Tatak Palawan—service, humility, and bayanihan (community spirit). It’s a testament to the people-first values that have guided the company from its humble roots to national success.
