DTI launches AI chatbot to simplify business licensing and frontline services

The US, Italy, and now Australia, have moved to ban access to DeepSeek, a Chinese-developed large language model, on government devices.

Philippine government agencies seem to be starting to embrace artificial intelligence (AI), with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launching a new AI-powered digital assistant to help automate frontline services and streamline business processes nationwide.

According to a report from the state-owned Philippine News Agency, the initiative aims to simplify regulatory compliance and accelerate business licensing and accreditation under the Marcos administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” agenda.

“The DTI is leveraging digitization through this new AI chatbot to cut red tape, improve access, and empower businesses,” said Trade Secretary Cristina Roque in a statement issued Friday.

The chatbot uses AI technology to provide real-time assistance, eliminating the need for physical visits, long queues, or extended email exchanges.

It is available 24/7 through the DTI’s Integrated Registration Information System website (https://iregis.dti.gov.ph/), where it can instantly respond to inquiries related to business name registration, accreditation, and other DTI services.

The DTI said the move reflects its commitment to improving ease of doing business and supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth across the country.
