Globe joined global industry leaders at the World Broadband Association (WBBA) Broadband Development Conference 2025 in Shanghai to explore the convergence of broadband infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI).
At the center of the conference’s agenda was the session “When AI Meets Broadband: Opportunities & Challenges,” held on June 19 at the Kerry Hotel. For Globe, it was more than a discussion—it was a chance to showcase how AI is already transforming its broadband services in meaningful, everyday ways.
Representing the company was Darius Delgado, Globe’s Chief Commercial Officer and a WBBA board member, who outlined how Globe is embedding AI across the entire broadband value chain, from strategic planning to customer experience. “We differentiate beyond price and speed, because that’s plain vanilla to the customer, especially in the Philippines,” Delgado told the audience.

Delgado emphasized that Globe’s AI initiatives aren’t just theoretical—they’re producing results. The company’s use of AI has improved fault detection accuracy by 90% and cut service restoration times by 70%. AI also powers automated band steering in customers’ homes, ensuring consistent high-speed connectivity tailored to their usage and location.
“We have deployed AI to proactively manage the value chain,” Delgado said. “We’re now able to identify demand in both greenfield and brownfield areas more effectively and faster.”
But Globe’s ambitions go beyond operational efficiency. At the heart of its AI vision is what Delgado calls “proactive personalization”—a model where Globe can anticipate customer needs before they even ask. “Our goal is to be proactively personalized,” he said. “We are doing many initiatives to make our customers’ lives better today.”
Delgado also highlighted the broader societal implications of AI, urging its integration into education systems as a fundamental skill rather than just a corporate advantage. “It has to be embedded in our educational curriculum… AI is so fundamental, it should be among the requisite skills,” he said.
As a member of the WBBA, Globe continues to contribute to working groups focused on operational AI deployment and policymaking, particularly for emerging markets. Through this collaboration, Globe seeks to balance commercial innovation with societal responsibility—developing smarter networks while protecting users and empowering employees.
“If AI enables us humans to have that level of productivity,” Delgado said, “it will open all of our eyes to more opportunities we normally don’t see today.”
