Epson Philippines underscored its long-term commitment to sustainability and responsible innovation during Fusion 16, the company’s annual media gathering.
The three-day event showcased how Epson is integrating environmental stewardship across its operations, products, and community initiatives.
Masako Kusama, President and Director of Epson Philippines Corporation, opened the program by emphasizing the importance of EcoSynergy—a principle that unites technology, purpose, and environmental responsibility. “Engineered for Good guides how we design, how we build, and how we operate every day,” Kusama said. “We focus on reducing energy use, extending product life, and selecting materials that are safer for the environment.”
Environmental roadmap
Epson’s environmental roadmap was a central focus of the discussions. EJ Sulit, Epson’s Sustainability Champion, presented the company’s targets to achieve carbon-negative operations by 2050 and transition to 100% renewable energy across all global sites, including its Batangas manufacturing facility—the largest Epson production hub worldwide.
Sulit also shared progress on community-led projects such as the ICLEAN Project in Monreal, Ticao Island, implemented in partnership with WWF-Philippines. Through waste management training and the introduction of a plastic shredder, the initiative has enabled the production of over 300 eco-bricks per month—each brick repurposing approximately 500 grams of plastic waste that would otherwise end up in the ocean.

Beyond environmental efforts, the event highlighted Epson’s continued market leadership and innovation in sustainable solutions.
Noelle Gonzalez, Marketing Division Head, discussed how the company has maintained growth across eight key product categories while rolling out new programs designed to help businesses operate more efficiently and responsibly. Initiatives such as the CoverPlus warranty program and regional holograms to deter counterfeit inks were among the measures introduced to enhance customer experience and protect the environment.
Russer Cabrera, Senior Manager for Product Marketing, showcased advances in large-format printing for textiles and signage—technologies that enable more sustainable production processes.
Meanwhile, the introduction of new leaders, including Julia Avila and Ash Elshawbaki, reflected Epson’s drive to strengthen partnerships with customers and communities alike.
“Local innovation and collaboration are essential to driving meaningful change,” Sulit noted. “By working closely with our partners and communities, we’re proving that sustainability can be practical, scalable, and impactful.”
The gathering also served as an opportunity to thank media partners for their role in amplifying Epson’s vision of a more sustainable future. The event concluded with team-building activities that reinforced the spirit of partnership and shared purpose, reminding all participants that progress is most powerful when it is collective.
