Wells Fargo Philippines deploys electric buses for sustainable employee transport

Wells Fargo Philippines

Wells Fargo Philippines has launched its first fleet of electric buses, expanding its employee shuttle service with low-emission transport options that support convenient mobility, operational efficiency, and improved local air quality.

The electric buses are being phased into Wells Fargo’s existing shared shuttle program in its Philippine offices, which has long been valued by employees for providing a safe, reliable, and free transport service. With the addition of electric vehicles, the program is increasing seating capacity and offering an alternative to fuel-powered shuttles while maintaining the same level of safety and convenience.

“Our free shuttle service has been one of our most appreciated employee programs, part of efforts in sustainability but also to creating a great place to work,” said Mike Whyte, Country Head of Wells Fargo Philippines. “By introducing electric buses, we are enhancing our employees’ well-being through better mobility options while continuing to operate responsibly within our communities.”

Wells Fargo Philippines selected Global Electric Transport (GET) as its partner through a competitive bidding process. The choice reflects Wells Fargo’s focus on working with companies that share its values around innovation, safety, and long-term impact. GET’s advanced EV technology, reliable charging network, and strong local service support made them a strategic fit.

Freddie Tinga, President of GET Philippines, said: “With this fleet, Wells Fargo is helping advance sustainable employee mobility in the Philippines. We are proud to work with a company that puts employee experience and smart transport solutions at the forefront.”

The electric buses feature fast-charging capability (20% to 90% in 45 minutes), air conditioning, accessibility features, GPS tracking, and seating for up to 25 passengers each. They will be integrated into the MoveInSync app of Wells Fargo Philippines, allowing employees to book and track rides. The fleet will also benefit from GET’s fast-charging network in Metro Manila, with dedicated charging stations installed at Wells Fargo offices in East Metro Manila.

The rollout included 10 units in May, with another 10 scheduled this August. Routes are being determined based on terminal availability and efficiency, while the program also supports Wells Fargo’s enterprise-wide sustainability goals.

The initiative comes at a crucial time as Metro Manila commuters continue to face challenges related to air quality and traffic congestion. According to the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), air pollution in the Philippines causes 66,000 premature deaths annually and costs over $1 billion in healthcare.

GET’s electric buses are developed with global EV technology partners including QEV Technologies (Spain) and EV Dynamics, and are manufactured with support from Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. (IMI), a subsidiary of Ayala Corporation.
