Instructure opens Asia hub in the Philippines to accelerate regional edtech growth

Instructure

Instructure, the world’s leading edtech ecosystem and creator of the Canvas learning management system (LMS), has officially launched its Asia hub in the Philippines. The new office in Quezon City marks a major milestone in the company’s global expansion, reinforcing its mission to build a connected, future-ready education ecosystem that empowers both educators and learners.

With millions of users across 19 countries in Asia, Instructure’s investment underscores the region’s growing role in digital learning. The hub will enhance delivery of IT, HR, and marketing services while supporting Canvas’s global 24/7 support model for institutions.

Driving innovation with AI

The launch also comes on the heels of Instructure’s recent release of IgniteAI, its next-generation artificial intelligence solution designed to deliver secure, in-context learning support. This advancement aligns with the rapid digital transformation reshaping education across Asia, making personalized and accessible learning a reality for more institutions.

“In establishing a formal presence in the Philippines, we are better positioned to serve the unique needs of our growing customer base,” said Steve Daly, CEO of Instructure. “Our commitment is to anticipate emerging needs and build educational tools that enhance, accelerate, and elevate human potential everywhere.”

Strong regional momentum

According to Harrison Kelly, APAC managing director at Instructure, the company is experiencing double-digit growth in Asia as universities and colleges adopt digital-first strategies and embrace lifelong learning. He noted that the Canvas LMS, which entered Asia nearly a decade ago, has significantly evolved with embedded AI innovations that expand how institutions engage learners.

Supporting local talent and institutions

As part of its regional expansion, Instructure has created close to 200 new jobs for Filipino professionals across various functions, reinforcing its commitment to local talent development and long-term presence in the country.

Several top institutions in the Philippines — including Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and the University of Santo Tomas — have already integrated Canvas LMS into their learning systems, strengthening their capacity to deliver flexible, technology-driven education.
