The Social Security System (SSS) just made its member ID a whole lot more useful.
With the launch of the new MySSS Card, members can now carry a single card that works both as proof of membership and as a fully functional debit card, the SSS in a news update said.
The card, developed with Union Bank of the Philippines, lets members receive benefits and loan proceeds straight into their accounts. But it doesn’t stop there—you can swipe or tap it for everyday purchases, pay bills, shop online, or even withdraw cash at ATMs. “This isn’t just an ID. It’s also a debit card that integrates benefits with real financial convenience,” said SSS president and CEO Rolando Ledesma Macasaet.
Applying is simple. Members log into their My.SSS online account, get redirected to UnionBank’s platform, and complete the application. Approved cards are delivered right to their doorstep.
For first-time applicants, the MySSS Card is completely free. (Replacement cards, however, may carry a minimal fee.) By combining identification with secure digital banking features, SSS said the card will speed up benefit distribution while cutting down on fraudulent claims. For members, it means less waiting in line and more control over their funds. And because it works like any debit card, the MySSS Card also encourages financial inclusion—helping more Filipinos move seamlessly between social security benefits and everyday financial transactions.
So whether it’s getting your maternity benefit, paying for groceries, or shopping on your favorite app, the MySSS Card promises to make life a bit simpler.
