GAC Hyptec HT: futuristic gullwings, quiet power, and a glimpse of electric luxury

A quick disclaimer: Our test drive was only a short loop around the SMX Convention Center—but it was enough to feel the torque and experience what GAC’s new electric flagship, the Hyptec HT, brings to the table.

Unveiled at the 2025 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), the GAC Hyptec HT instantly became one of the event’s biggest head-turners.

From the moment those gullwing doors lift, you know this EV isn’t just another concept—it’s a statement of design and intent. The sharp lines, starlight-inspired headlamps, and aerodynamic silhouette combine futuristic flair with the bold stance of a luxury SUV.

Inside, the cabin is spacious and futuristic, wrapped in soft-touch materials and accented by ambient lighting that shifts with driving modes. The plush Nappa leather seats come with massage, ventilation, and heating functions, while the passenger enjoys an electric leg rest—comforts you’d expect from a high-end lounge rather than a vehicle.

Once the doors close, the outside world fades. The Hyptec HT’s cabin is remarkably quiet, with almost no engine or road noise. Acceleration is buttery smooth, the torque instantaneous, and the ride exceptionally balanced. Even in our short drive, the Hyptec HT’s refined handling and silent powertrain stood out as its most impressive qualities.

Safety and intelligence are deeply integrated into the build. The SUV runs on GAC’s X-Soul EE platform, featuring 360-degree radar coverage, submarine-grade steel construction, and Level 2 driver assistance. Adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and a full airbag suite come standard. Charging has also seen major improvements, supporting both 400V and 800V fast-charging architectures—meaning less waiting and more driving.

While our loop around SMX was too short to fully explore its range and performance, the Hyptec HT already shows the promise of a true next-generation luxury EV. From its futuristic design to its quiet, confident ride, this GAC creation feels like a glimpse of what’s to come.

Still, a few laps aren’t enough to tell the whole story. The Hyptec HT clearly shines in design, comfort, and smoothness—but perhaps we need to test it on real road conditions to see just how far this electric powerhouse can really go.
