The Philippines’ leading data center operators have joined forces to form the Data Center Operators of the Philippines (DCPH), a new alliance that seeks to position the country as the next major digital hub in Southeast Asia.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing attended by representatives from VITRO Inc., ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Philippines), YCO Cloud, Digital Edge Philippines, Digital Halo, and A-FLOW, a joint venture between FLOW Digital Infrastructure and AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp.
Together, these firms represent a combined 473 megawatts (MW) of IT power capacity—making the alliance a unified voice for the country’s fast-growing data center industry. The DCPH aims to foster stronger collaboration across sectors, advance infrastructure and innovation, and help develop local talent to meet the rising demand for hyperscale, AI, and next-generation technologies.
Strengthening the digital ecosystem
The alliance will work with the power sector to ensure access to competitive and renewable energy rates, with telecommunications providers to enhance connectivity, and with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to promote policies that support industry growth and digital resilience.
The group emphasized that collaboration between public and private sectors is vital to sustaining the momentum of the Philippines’ digital transformation. A more robust data center ecosystem, they said, will attract greater foreign investment, improve service reliability, and create new opportunities in the digital economy.
Championing data localization
DCPH members also highlighted the importance of data localization, especially for data processed and stored by the public sector. Keeping government and citizen data within the country, they said, strengthens national security, enhances privacy protections, and safeguards the Philippines’ data sovereignty.
Neighboring countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia have already implemented similar policies, recognizing citizen data as a strategic national asset. Adopting such measures in the Philippines could further enhance infrastructure resilience and boost investor confidence in cloud and AI ventures.
Driving digital competitiveness
As global digital transformation accelerates, the formation of the DCPH marks a pivotal step toward building a future-ready and globally competitive digital economy for the Philippines—one powered by world-class data center infrastructure and strategic industry collaboration.
