The latest Opensignal Mobile Network Experience Report for October 2025 highlights a dynamic landscape among the Philippines’ three major mobile network operators — DITO Telecommunity, Smart Communications, and Globe Telecom.
The independent analytics firm’s findings showcased DITO solidifying its position as the fastest in terms of overall download speeds and 5G performance, while Smart and Globe remain strong contenders in coverage and upload speed.
DITO retained its lead in download speed with an average of 39.8 megabits per second (Mbps), ahead of Smart’s 36.2 Mbps and Globe’s 25 Mbps.
The report also points to DITO’s dominance in 5G download speeds, registering an average of 253.9 Mbps, significantly outpacing both Smart (144.6 Mbps) and Globe (93.6 Mbps).
This rapid growth signals DITO’s continuing emphasis on expanding 5G capabilities and delivering superior speed experiences to consumers.
While DITO leads in download speeds, Smart takes the crown for overall upload speeds, averaging 6.2 Mbps, just ahead of DITO’s 6.1 Mbps. Globe trails with 5.1 Mbps.
Upload speed gains importance as users engage more in video calls, content sharing, and cloud services, making Smart’s lead a critical differentiator in user experience.
In terms of network coverage quality, Globe achieved the highest coverage experience score at 7.4 points out of 10.
This metric reflects users’ experience moving through areas where they reasonably expect service. Smart follows narrowly with 7.2 points, while DITO lags with 3.8 points.
For 5G coverage experience, Smart also leads with 1.7 points, Globe at 0.9, and DITO at 0.4, signaling room for growth in network reach and depth, especially for emerging 5G services.
The report underscores a competitive environment where DITO is becoming a formidable competitor by rapidly enhancing network speeds, while incumbents Smart and Globe continue leveraging expansive coverage footprints and balanced upload capabilities.
Opensignal commented that these results highlight shifting dynamics in the Philippine telecom market as operators race to capture user attention through speed, coverage, and quality metrics.
The findings offer consumers and industry watchers a nuanced understanding of operator strengths, with clear momentum for 5G advancements shaping the future mobile network experience in the Philippines.
