Garmin is advancing the future of smartwatch technology with the launch of the latest addition to its premium GPS smartwatches, the fēnix 8 – MicroLED. It introduces a first-of-its-kind, high-resolution MicroLED display for superior readability in any environment.

As Garmin’s flagship multisport outdoor smartwatch line, the fēnix series has continued to advance wearable innovation and capabilities. Each milestone—from the world’s first solar-powered smartwatch fēnix 6 in 2020 to the fēnix 7 in 2022, which introduced multi-band GNSS positioning and an integrated LED flashlight—demonstrates the series’ role as a pioneer in outdoor safety and professional sports performance. The fēnix 8 MicroLED continues this legacy as the first wearable device with a MicroLED display.

Garmin has pushed the boundaries of wearable technology by achieving a significant milestone: the successful integration and mass production of MicroLED displays in smartwatches. Offering remarkable brightness with exquisite detail, the fēnix 8 MicroLED features over 400,000 individual LEDs delivering up to 4,500 nits, making it the brightest smartwatch ever.
The new display offers approximately 15% wider color gamut for richer, more accurate colors. Its ultra-wide viewing angle keeps images clear even from the side, with contrast up to six times greater. Enhanced burn-in resistance and durability triple the display’s toughness, significantly extending its lifespan. The result is a revolutionary display that produces vivid colors and high pixel density with exceptional readability—even under harsh sunlight.

Built for wherever adventure leads, the fēnix 8 series is loaded with Garmin’s full suite of performance, navigation, health and wellness, and connected features.
